We are looking for an exceptionally talented and motivated scientist to take up a fully funded position as postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) in computational biology, as part of the EPSRC Early Career Fellowship ‘GREET: Generative Recombinant Enzyme Engineering for Therapeutics’, led by Dr Giovanni Stracquadanio. The post is available up to 31st December 2025; however, it would accommodate an earlier end date.
We are an interdisciplinary group based at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, interested in addressing challenges in healthcare and biotechnology, and aiming at continuously improving our strong publications and funding track record (www.stracquadaniolab.org).
The candidate is expected to design, develop, and test innovative deep learning models to design new therapeutic enzymes to treat Fabry disease. The successful candidate will focus on variational and adversarial deep learning models and will work closely with experimental scientists, within the lab and with industrial partners, to test and characterise new computationally designed molecules. The project is a unique opportunity to build a highly competitive profile at the intersection of deep learning, drug design and synthetic biology.
