Hi everyone, I'm searching Phd programs with labs that are more focused in the drug design and discovery area. So taking this in account which are the best Computational Biology programs with focus on drug design/discovery. I'm a foreign who wants to apply for a Phd in Computational Biology in the future.
ALeLs, Make a list of the 30 USA universities you are personally interested in. In these universities, who is doing great and inspiring work focused on drug design and discovery? The best programs are the ones where you can learn a lot of things you never knew about before. The university also needs to have "resources". Some Universities have more "resources" than others. When you have narrowed it down, compare the cost of living in the local area and the how much money they will pay you to do the PhD. Then, apply to the universities. You will be rejected by some so that will narrow down the choice. Of the programs that accept you, take a visit to the university and see if you like it there. The best program of these will be the one where you like to physically be present there. Then accept 1, and remember to politely write back and decline the offers from the other universities.
ALels, there is a process of finding the University you are looking for. If you only want the USA, you could make a list of 30 Universities that are offering the PhD program you want to do. Of those Universities look to see which groups or who is doing great work related to Drug Design and Discovery. Then you could compare the potential cost of going to each one. This should narrow it down to at least 10 Universities. You could then apply to 10 . If you have holiday time you could go for 2 days weekend holiday to see if you like the area and the University. Also see which resources are available. Resources consist of professor knowledge, road transport access, library books, spare computer access, gym facilities, social life and others. Accept a place at 1 University and write back to the other Universities to decline your place. Posted twice, but this may help =).
