Become part of Sweden's vibrant life science community and interact with bright, kind and international colleagues at the Science for Life Laboratory!
Two of Sweden's national research infrastructures currently invite applications for permanent jobs as bioinformaticians/computational biologists, but also backend developer for genomic data, AI/ML experts and project managers: The National Bioinformatics Infrastructure NBIS and the National Genomics Infrastructure NGI, both within the umbrella of the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). SciLifelab is an institution for the advancement of molecular bio-sciences in Sweden that consists of ten platforms, each covering a specific area of expertise and technology with relevance to the life sciences.
The National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI) platform provides access to state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technology and operates devices from various technology providers such as Illumina, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Pacific Biosciences or Element Biosciences. The NGI offers a broad method spectrum including spatial single-cell sequencing or ancient DNA sequencing and delivers sequencing data for up to a thousand projects per year.
The National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS) is Sweden’s premier distributed bioinformatics infrastructure, supporting life science research with state‑of‑the‑art data science services—including large‑scale omics analysis, medical and bioimage informatics, systems and tool development, data management (aligned with FAIR principles), and access to national high‑performance computing resources. As the Swedish node of the European ELIXIR network, NBIS also offers a comprehensive training catalog and PhD mentoring, collaborates nationally with the SciLifeLab Data Centre and NAISS, and partners internationally through initiatives like the EGI Federation and ELIXIR flagship projects.
Please see the job ads on the careers page (Application deadlines August 15-31, 2025):
I am happy to answer questions regarding the work at NGI/SciLifeLab and also e.g. about living in Sweden.
