Here is an interesting tool, not sure what it is called, when prononuced the url feels like it has an infinite recursion ;-), maybe the name is bam.iobio

Looks pretty interesting. It uses realtime sampling to generate global statistics of a bam file and only a subset of data needs to be transferred.
