Hi,all;I ran a non metric multidimensional scaling model (nmds) on a 16s otu table;I can get a stress value and a R square for each Iterator. For all I know NMDS has no % variation explained values and I will choose the max R square. But I have read some papers, such as http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3420156/

In fig3 each axis has a R square value just like some kind of  % variation explained values.I don't know how to get these R square or I understand error. Maybe a stupid question, any help will be appreciated.

Best wishes

Here you have the R squared explained a bit better.
