I am trying to install GD::Graph in Cygwin using cpan and 'make' keeps failing. I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a few days with no success. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Running make for R/RU/RUZ/GDGraph-1.48.tar.gz

Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Generating a Unix-style Makefile
Writing Makefile for GD::Graph
Writing MYMETA.yml and MYMETA.json

The automatic tests for GDGraph are not really a solid workout of the
library. The best way to test the package is to run the examples
before installing it.  You can run the examples in the samples
directory with `make samples` or by going into that directory, and
just running `make`.
If that fails, please read samples/Makefile.

Hello eb85!

We believe that this post does not fit the main topic of this site.

This question is unrelated to bioinformatics and would be a better fit for a Perl forum or Stack Overflow. Having experienced similar issues myself (though not on Cygwin), I assure you that you're more likely to find a solution on those other sites.

For this reason we have closed your question. This allows us to keep the site focused on the topics that the community can help with.

If you disagree please tell us why in a reply below, we'll be happy to talk about it.

Cheers!

Good morning,

Perhaps I should have been more specific in my question. I’m actually trying to install Fastq Screen, a sequencing pipeline tool that checks your sequences for contaminants and non-target sequences. GD::Graph is one of the [optional] requirements to visualize sequence hits. I am trying to install GD::Graph in Cygwin for this purpose. I apologize if I’m in the wrong forum for this topic, but I believe the question is valid for a bioinformatics thread.

Thanks!

Hi, your question pertains more to Perl/CPAN than to bioinformatics. Like you mention, it has to do with GD::Graph and make within cpan install than with an actual bioinformatics tool.

Anyway, a force install GD::Graph might solve your problem.

Thanks, I will try Perl Monks instead. New user here…

And, no, force install GD::Graph does not work.

Looks like you planned 33 tests but ran 3.

Looks like your test exited with 255 just after 3.

Failed 1/6 test programs. 0/88 subtests failed. make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255
