Here is an example:

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/SNP/snp_ref.cgi?rs=150757879

If you zoom in until the the KCNK5 gene is visible and export to pdf, you will see something similar to:

< image not found >

As you may have noticed, there are a NM_xxx, NP_xxx, XM_xxx or XP_xxxx label for each gene, what do these mean and how can I disable them?

You can change your preference for label placement by clicking on Tools -> Preferences. Changing your setting to Side Label will result in only the gene symbol being shown, on the 5' side of the gene. You can also turn off the label.
