Is there anyone else in the Overland Park Ks area who frequents this site? I know that we have several colleges and research institutes with genomic cores in the area and I need help. I have no one to talk out problems with and would like to start a meetup or something so we can help each other out.

Is there anyone who would like to do this, I'm afraid that if I do not find other people to learn with and from my development will stall.

Yep, I'm in the area. And I know there's people at Children's Mercy, KU med, etc. There was a KC bioinformatics meetup (once), but I missed it. Also some of us (from Stowers Institute) met with a couple people from KU med I met through seqanswers once, but I think that guy has since moved on. Anyway, if you decide to go through with it, I'll try to show up, just let me know!

Great! I'm so excited that people are interested in doing this. I will figure out a place to start.

My email is my first name at gmail if you need it. You should also include a guy named Greyson Twist from Children's Mercy. He's @Greytwist on twitter and he started the KC Bioinformatics meetup once upon a time...

Okay, just in case you are interested, I heard about this local bioinformatics conference today... http://www.kclifesciences.org/events/first-annual-midwest-bioinformatics-conference/
