Powered by expertise from both academia and industry, our Virtual Tumor Board (VTB) service helps oncology practices incorporate tumor profiling, targeted therapies, outcomes tracking, and reimbursement support into their daily workflow. We are the only company in the market that provides both clinical and economic benefits, from vendor neutral interpretation of tumor profiles, to reimbursement support for off-indication therapies. We are seeking an exceptional leader in the science and industry of Precision Medicine, to take on the role as Director of Technology at Massive Bio, leading design and development of a knowledge based system for personalized oncology advisory.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to co-founders, and serve as a mentor and leader to team members.
  • Design and develop Massive Bio’s knowledge-based patient and oncologist advisory system that generalizes and automates delivery of expert advice.
  • Lead Massive Bio’s multidisciplinary team of oncologists, biomarker actionability experts, and software engineers, to improve the manual and automated protocols of order acquisition, data collection and standardization, knowledgebase query, literature review, report preparation, delivery, and customer support.
  • Maintain a rich network of connections in academia and industry, to accumulate market knowledge, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies, evaluate, and identify appropriate technology platforms for improving Massive Bio’s portfolio of services and expertise.
  • Develop thought leadership and prove how Massive Bio’s product and technology vision is superior and differentiated relative to competitors.
  • Provide critical and factual inputs for intellectual property creation and compliance.
  • Select and manage company staff or vendors to implement new technology/design.
  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Requirements

  • Have a deep understanding of molecular biology and/or cancer genomics.
  • Expertise in patient-friendly web-based educational or reporting platforms.
  • Over 3 years in project management, coordinating groups of 5 or more software engineers or scientists, towards an exceptionally high bar for customer delivery.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Software Engineering and Knowledge-Based systems; 3 to 5 years in industry or a proven track record is required.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Pharmacogenomics, Medical Oncology, or any related field. A PhD, MD, and/or MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Understands the complex interplay between healthcare providers, payers, and pharma.
  • Sufficiently tech savvy to use tools like Zendesk, Zapier, Google Apps, etc.
  • Strong analytical and reverse engineering skills for troubleshooting technical issues. Good design sensibilities for reproducibility, modularity, and idempotence.
