I'm running mothur on my laptop: 64-bit ,16 GB RAM, 2.50GHz Intel Core i&-6500U CPU. I've stored my data on a 2 TB external drive because my database file is enormous. Windows crashes at the same point in my pipeline which is when I try to run the summary.seqs after running the screen.seqs command that removes any non-specific amplification, etc..

screen.seqs(fasta=stability.trim.contigs.good.unique.align, count=stability.trim.contigs.good.count_table, summary=stability.trim.contigs.good.unique.summary, start=42500, end=50001, maxhomop=8)

summary.seqs(fasta=stability.trim.contigs.good.unique.good.align, count=stability.trim.contigs.good.good.count_table)

I've tried to set the processors to 1, 2 or 4 (prior setting is 8 processors) and mothur always crashes.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? I'm currently using the interactive mode with the command prompt while I am learn the pipeline with my data set.
