I want to research the need of MSA(Multiple sequence alignment), i am looking for history of MSA, how it developed? and why the need of MSA came to the world?

Thanks @WouterDeCoster, I know i could research this subject, but there is a lot of information in the web, just trying to get help from someone who already had research the subject.

The oldest MSA I can think of is Hawley & McClure 1983: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC325881/

They found the -70/-35 promoter signature. The did a manual alignment.
