The Center for Infection and Immunity at the Mailman School of Public Health has an immediate opening for a Programmer Analyst and a Sr. Programmer/Analyst. The successful applicants will provide bioinformatics support for ongoing research (multiple projects) in virus pathogen detection and discovery in a large and dynamic laboratory.
The candidates must have a basic knowledge of genetics and molecular biology (at least 2 university level courses in biology/molecular biology) as well as practical knowledge of major bioinformatics tools and resources: NCBI, GenBank, BLAST, PDB, etc. The positions require the ability to work in Unix environments and at least one year of academic or industrial experience working with scripting languages, such as C Shell, Perl, or Python. Desired qualifications include: applied mathematics/statistics/biostatistics background and experience in C++ (object oriented) programming
