I just want to call the attention to a remarkably detailed comment to a question that seems to be of great interest to many (btw make sure to vote for those posts and not this one):
with comments such as:
and there is also a related blog post:
Thinking about Designing RNA Seq Experiments to Measure Differential Gene Expression: The Basics
Also as noted in the comments more relevant information can be found in How much coverage do we need for an RNA-seq experiment?
This is great. I also thought there were many great answers on the related question regarding coverage needed for an RNAseq experiment: How much coverage do we need for an RNA-seq experiment?
indeed, that is also one of the best recent posts, I will edit the main post to reflect that.
Hi Istvan,
I found this when I was, um, self-googling...
The link to that old post is dead.
It lives here now: http://michelebusby.tumblr.com/post/26913184737/thinking-about-designing-rna-seq-experiments-to
I've made some updates to it. There is some nice work in yeast with some highly replicates samples now that may superscede some of it , but I think most of it is still relevant.
I have updated the main text. Thanks for the correction.
