[Apologies - crosspost]

Dear all,

we're hiring a creative, computationally savvy person to manage our computing efforts. You'll be interacting with hardcore bioinformaticians, with genomics, chemoinformatics, proteomics, ecology & psychology researchers, and with our central research computing service. Initially, the aim will be to help us strike the right balance of using central computing, local fat and small servers, cloud & single board computing, to make sure required solutions are properly implemented & running smoothly. In this manner you'll form the seed of a new core facility. Subsequently, depending on your interests, you can become more involved either in participating in the research projects through coding or data analysis (opportunities for coauthorship & learning new skills) or in further developing our resources. Or both.

More details in the ad. The initial contract is for two years. Pay is in the range of 42,601 to 47,559 GBP per year depending on experience. Closing date for applications is November 21st 2013.

I'm happy to answer any questions here or via PM.

Location: Fogg Building, Queen Mary University in London, UK (minutes from London's Shoreditch technology hub & generally in a hip & fun part of east/central London (zone 2)).
