Hello community ,

I'm really confused about the difference between gene id 9167.1 and gene id 9167

I know that 9167 is the gene ID in NCBI but what about 9167.1.

Where I can find it?

i'm going to widely guess that you are trying to swap annotations or something and that 9167.1 and 9167 are both the same gene but with 2 or more external gene id's (or other names). generally the .1 is added when duplicates are present

in fact 9167 refers to entrez gene id in NCBI . my question is what's the difference between 9167 , 9167.1 and 9167.2. It's just a version question of the gene or something else ?

Provide actual links for the ID's in question.

9167 can mean different things at NCBI depending of the database. See : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/search/all/?term=9167%20

AFAIK Gene ID in gene database will always be an integer number e.g. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/9167 If you try to get to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/9167.1 the page will generate an error.

On the other hand, accession numbers will have version associated with them that can increment over time and will be in the Accession.N format.
