How can I get fasta sequence for gene body DLK1 plus to 10 kb of its upstream?

Getting the gene sequence can be a little more complicated than one might assume.

The word "gene" is burdened with many meanings.

Are you looking for coding regions? Transcripts?

Upstream of what? Start codon of a transcript, transcription start site? What if the gene has multiple transcript start sites?

There are many resources that can give you answers, but first and most important element is to define what you are really after.
