integration of nucleotide sequence (biological databases)

Hello,

Can any one explain me what is integration of biological databases in the context of programmers i.e. for example we have two separate flat files of same accession number from different databases, Now I don't understand integration term in programmers point. I want to know what will be our out come after the integration of these two flat files.

Integration is a very broad concept and as such may have different meaning in different circumstances.

Typically what people mean by data integration is the ability to connect, visualize, query and interpret data of different origin that shares some commonality.

For example a promoter may regulate a gene that gets transcribed to proteins that in turn may trigger biological processes that result in metabolites being produced.

Now if we have known data on promoters, proteins and metabolites we need a data integration process to connect all these together.
