Hello,

I am a new student in Bioinformatics. I am learning a lot about tools used for analysis of DNA/RNA sequencing data. To advance my knowledge, I am interested in getting involved in open source projects related to NGS technologies. Could someone give me more information about how do I get involved with it.

Thank you in advance.

Hi KVC,

I'm glad that you want to contribute. You can take a look at OpenGene projects (https://github.com/OpenGene ):

  • GeneFuse: Gene fusion detection and visualization
  • MutScan: Detect and visualize target mutations by scanning FastQ files directly
  • OpenGene.jl: OpenGene, core libraries for NGS data analysis and bioinformatics in julia
  • AfterQC: Automatic Filtering, Trimming, Error Removing and Quality Control for fastq data
  • ...

If you find that you are interested in any of these projects, you can get involved by reporting issues or submitting pull requests.
If you have a complete idea to address some new NGS problem, start a new project.
