I'm looking for a resource describing the .ace format. It is quite old format and I only end up to dead links, or web-pages/papers mentioning it but without any description.

You just need a description or way to parse? There is this: Parsing Ace File To Fasta Formated Alignement

This CONSED document has information about the format. Look for ACE file format.

Just a description I do not plan to parse it. I came to it because I'm planning to pull a modification in the perl gff parser... and I would like to remove the space before the semicolon in attribute list Target "HBA_HUMAN" ; E_value 0.0003 because the format don't mention it: attribute must have an tag value structure following the syntax used within objects in a .ace file, flattened onto one line by semicolon separators.. So I was wondering it this extra space was coming from the ace format.

There is some explanation about the ACE file format on here: https://web.archive.org/web/20100609072313/http://bcr.musc.edu/manuals/CONSED.txt

I guess this is the best you can get:

Consed documentation/README.txt, chapter 26. ACE format definition
