Hi,

Switching over to the new site, just saw the scores and also the ranking on the new site are different. It does not bother me too much, but maybe others might wish to see their profiles adjusted, or are these scores based on differences in the scoring system of the new site?

The new user score (reputation) represents the sum of upvotes and accepted votes that a user accumulated.

The ranking is also different - primarily since the original ranking algorithm is not public. The new ranking system that I came up with can be thought of as a timestamp that is initialized at the time at which the post is created. Subsequently posts are ranked by this "age". Each positive user interaction: voting, viewing, adding an answer to it) makes the post "younger" and that in turn makes it show up sooner.

The exact amounts by which posts ranks change will need to be observed and tuned.

-- later edit --

a new post will appear somewhere in the top 5 no matter how highly ranked the other posts are

Ok, but I believe the old system worked like+10 per up vote, -2 per downvote you get and -1 per cast downvote, +15 per accept.

I think the +1 for an upvote and accept is much simpler and easier to understand. Also there is no reputation penalty for down voting either. Another change is that one can accept multiple answers per question as well.

Actually I like the new way the question ranking works.
