Hello Guys,

I am Sulyman from Nigeria. I am a certified biochemist and presently work as a Software Developer. I am first year master student in biological department.

I wanted to couple my IT experience with the knowledge of biochemistry I had. That was when bioinformatic cross my mind.

I have been thinking lately on a research project I'd work on under bioinformatic. And That was what prompted me here. please and recommended project topic with guide please?

There are enough sites for free lancing bioinformatics jobs. Register yourself with such multiple sites. Look at the projects that you can understand. Take that problem and see if you can work on it. Or search for tutorials whichever kind of data analysis you are interested in (For eg gene expression, metabolic flux modeling etc). Reproduce the tutorial and then come up with your own project based on what you learnt.

The best way to find a research topic is to identify a subject of interest, find a published paper that relies on bioinformatics then attempt to redo the analysis yourself.

As you do so, you learn a whole lot about the process, and you'll identify a large number of potential additional directions to investigate that you can then pursue yourself.

Doing so allows you to gain deeper understanding of what is out there, what the state of the art is, how analyses are performed and gain valuable practical skills.
